Committed to the Community
Committed to the Community
Baird has a long tradition of giving back to the communities where our associates live and work.
Our team is committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work by volunteering our time and using our resources. Our ongoing commitment to building relationships in the community and empowering associates to get involved is central to our culture at Baird and our team.
We've engaged with several outstanding organizations, some of which are listed below.
Can’t Sit Still 5K Run/Walk - PA Tourette Syndrome Alliance
Our team was proud to again sponsor and participate in the PA Tourette Syndrome Alliance's annual 5k Run/Walk. With a record number of registrants, the 2026 race was held on a beautiful day and supports a great local cause. Even more special, the race took place during the annual Baird Gives Back week, and we were thrilled to be joined by Joseph Thompson, another local branch manager, and his family. We’d love to see you there next year!
Hosted by the Pennsylvania Tourette Syndrome Alliance, Inc., which provides information, education support, and disability advocacy for individuals with Tourette Syndrome and their family members.
Women's History Month
In honor of International Women's Day, we gathered and delivered donations to the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, an organization dedicated to supporting women through challenging times. Thank you to our generous friends and co-workers!
Afterwards, we celebrated our all-women team with a delicious lunch!

Carnegie-Collier Rotary
Carnegie-Collier Rotary Club's annual fundraising event was a success! Patty has been a member (and past president!) for more than 20 years. The club works tirelessly to reach as many organizations and individuals in the community as possible through volunteer work and scholarship opportunities. The Patty John and Jamie Roach Group was one of the sponsors for this year's fundraiser. Aloha!
Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh
Patty and Jamie attended the 2026 fundraiser for the Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, a meaningful way to support an important cause while continuing to work together both professionally and in the community. This event was made all the more special because it took place on Mother's Day weekend. Celebrating women and mothers with the whole family is always the best part!
Women United: Celebrate to Elevate
This mother-daughter duo had such a great time attending Women United: Celebrate to Elevate, hosted by United Way of Southwestern PA. We love being able to support our community side-by-side, learning and giving back together. One especially powerful takeaway: 72% of the calls United Way receives through the 211 helpline are from women, underscoring just how critical this work is for women and families in our region. We're grateful to have been part of an inspiring night with incredible women and community leaders, all rallying around an even greater cause.
Sponsor for Dress For Success Pittsburgh
What a night! Patty and Jamie were honored to sponsor Dress for Success Pittsburgh's 20th Anniversary Celebration. The organization works to support women in our area who are entering or returning to the workforce by providing professional attire and offering programs to help build confidence. We had such a great time with friends and family and look forward to future events and opportunities to support such a wonderful organization!
See ya later, Alligator – Hello, Pirate Patty?
Fun Fact – Patty fostered an alligator from September 2023 until January 2024! (She also adopted a parrot in the meantime)
When Patty’s niece, Sara, was closing her shop, Sara’s Pets and Plants, she contacted the family asking if anyone would be willing to foster an alligator while she made her move to Florida since she had to apply for special permits to bring the alligator with her. Sara was also looking for a home for an Eclectus Parrot named Ruby. Patty agreed to take both and quickly decided she’d invite Ruby to join her family permanently. While the gator was loved and well-cared for during her short stay with Patty, the parrot became a long-term family favorite.
Sara has been rescuing exotic pets since October 2018. Even though she moved to Florida to teach Anthrozoology, she’s still helping to re-home pets in need in Pittsburgh through her foster-based rescue: Feathers, Scales and Tails!
Sunday Spotlight on local news
Patty and her daughter, Stephanie, made an appearance on KDKA. Check out the story!
On May 16, 2023, the Pittsburgh Skyline was light up with teal to kick off Tourette Syndrome Awareness month.
Members of PA Tourette Syndrome Alliance were invited to talk about the organization and how they might be able to help people in the community. Pictured are Brandi Cooper, Patty John, Stephanie Dissen, and Brian Crawford.
Baird Gives Back
Many Baird associates team up during Baird Gives Back Week, an event held annually in the spring, to serve local community organizations that are in need of help.
The Summer Fade Away
The Baird South Hills Office was proud to be a major sponsor of the 2025 Summer Fade Away Festival, held in Southpointe just streets away from our office. The Fade Away is a fun, family-friendly event that is held annually in support of the Autism Caring Center, a nonprofit dedicated to providing advocacy, education, and resources for families affected by autism.
Founded by a local family inspired by their own autism journey, the festival combines fun and purpose: creating an inclusive space where everyone can celebrate, connect, and contribute to a cause that truly matters. Our team was proud to attend and looks forward to 2026 event!
Baird supports City Mission
Our office collected items for City Mission of Southwestern PA. This non-profit organization provides hope, healing, and support to individuals in need and works to shelter, heal, and restore those experiencing homelessness to independent living.
Baird gives back to Dress for Success
Our team participated in a donation drive for Pittsburgh's Dress for Success. This non-profit organization works to empower women and provide networking and tools they need to succeed while re-entering the workplace.
